<image:caption>I don't think counselors and clients have to have the exact same backgrounds, characteristics, or life experiences to do powerful work together. However, there are some areas that might connect with you: I am cisgender, white, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community As an adoptee, I have experience with adoption I have an extensive background in evangelical Christianity, and personal experience navigating faith after my values and identity meant something had to change I have over 25 years of experience in disability-related rehabilitation counseling, particularly in vocational and career exploration My counseling approaches are person-centered and existential. I also practice ACT, a cognitive-behavioral theory based on living from ones values. I am also becoming more familiar with Internal Family Systems theory.</image:caption>

<image:title>how does online counseling work? - how does online counseling work?</image:title>
<image:caption>Meeting online can be a wonderful option for you if you're living in an area where resources are limited, whether because of transportation challenges, or lack of specialities you need. It may seem weird to think about seeing a counselor online, but I’ve found it's pretty connecting, as long as you have video access on your computer, a microphone, and a quiet private space to talk. I use a HIPAA-approved telemedicine website to work with clients.</image:caption>
